I am delighted that a report commissioned by the Regional Australia Institute, has now been released. Its findings have important implications for disaster management policy in Australia.
The following media release summarises the findings and what the Griffith University research team, which I led, believe are the policy implications of this research. We look forward to a much-needed debate on the policy challenges of disaster relief and recovery and encourage governments at all levels to consider opportunities to address the unintended consequences of decisions taken in the recovery phase that have the potential to undermine individual and community resilience.
